Although the sun is really pretty and it makes things grow and days warmer, as a photographer I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of a sunny day. In fact, I really dislike taking photos on “pretty” sunny days…. I don’t like the high contrast and lack of control I have on my photos on those days. It would be a lot different if I had the crew and equipment to alter lighting on these days, but until then I have to say “Sun, please hide away in the clouds!!”
I’m sitting here in Starbucks trying to work on a few photos to kill some time before I can park on campus for free (soo much work to do in ceramics) and the stupid sun is shining right through the window, halting all editing I’m doing. For those reading who haven’t edited pictures or unfamiliar with the digital editing process, just know that the darker the room the better. It really optimizes the colours you see in your photos and the screen to do it’s job to the fullest.
Today would be a nice day to take photos because it’s mostly cloudy and there is a lot of diffusion of the sun’s light, but it’s at just the right angle and just the right time of day that it’s shining directly on my computer.
Now that I’ve killed some time and I can go on campus to work in the ceramics studio, of course, the sun is tucked away enough that I could resume working on photos. Those photos will have to hold off until Friday and Saturday night….. wooo my life is exciting right now, hah.
